Avalaura has always dreamed big since she was a child. As a child, one of her favorite activities was spending time imagining her future and learning about God and spirituality. She knew one day she would do something great.
As a college undergraduate, Avalaura studied psychology at Howard University. This experience allowed her to use her leadership gifts, further develop her ability to discern the truth in situations and offer wise advise.
After working for a couple of years, Avalaura returned to Howard to pursue her masters degree in social work. A hectic two years of graduate school, internships, planning a wedding, and frantic living took its toll on her; she was drained and forced to slow down. This was the beginning of her spiritual awakening that changed her life. Her faith and relationship with God pulled her through this difficult time of personal exploration and learning her purpose. During this time, she reevaluated her life and her beliefs and realized that she was not only a leader, teacher and 
counselor, but a gifted healer destined to use her gifts in a major way.
For over two years, she worked in the social work field. She was unfulfilled and frustrated. It became so unbearable that after a spiritual retreat, she prayed for help. She returned to work, only to learn that she had been fired. Having never been fired before, she was devastated, yet relieved. She knew this was the answer to her prayers. The seeds for Avalaura’s Healing Center had already been planted. She embraced her passion and knew it was time to pursue her dreams.
She studied the healing arts and was certified in Reiki, Spiritual Counseling, Life Coaching, Hypnotherapy and Aromatherapy. In November 2005, she opened Avalaura’s Healing Center, a healing and wellness center in College Park, MD. Although she loved teaching workshops, doing speaking engagements and helping people overcome their problems, after awhile Avalaura began to feel restless.
She knew she was not living up to her potential and it was time for a change. She needed a teacher, a spiritual advisor. She went to India to study yoga and thought she would meet her teacher there. She was disappointed when she didn’t. However, she loved India and committed to practicing the daily meditation and yoga that she learned.
One day while meditating, she heard a familiar person’s name. She did not know the person and only knew about him from her friend. However, she trusted her intuition and contacted the man who would change her life forever. Unbeknownst to her, he was the one who would teach her everything about spirituality and healing. He comes from a long line of Spiritual healers in Africa. Amongst all of his students, he chose Avalaura to share all of his wisdom. He introduced her to the world of Marabout, where healing physical, mental, financial and spiritual conditions, legal problems, negativity, relationship problems, witchcraft, and more are all possible by evoking the highest spiritual powers. This was the work she was born to do. This was what she dreamed of as a child. This is what she had searched for her entire life. She is one of the few people in the United States to be gifted with this sacred knowledge and ability. With the addition of Dream Interpretation and Marabout Spiritual Healing to her Healing repertoire, she now helps people all over the world to heal and overcome obstacles and live their dreams.

Avalaura Gaither Beharry, also known as the Spiritual Sage, is a Healer, Counselor and Spiritual Teacher who is the founder and owner of Avalaura’s Healing Center, a holistic wellness center in College Park, MD. She combines her formal education, intuitive/spiritual wisdom and life experiences to help people in the DC area and around the world to heal and transform their lives.
Her goal is to assist, inspire and empower individuals to discover their true selves and divine potential to live the lives they were born to live. Using various healing modalities including Marabout spiritual healing, Spiritual counseling, Life Coaching, Reiki, Dream Interpretation and more, she specializes in helping people overcome hidden obstacles, remove spiritual blockages and solve problems previously thought to be insurmountable.
Many of her clients are women who feel lost, unbalanced, unfulfilled and in search of change, purpose and direction. They love her grounded, passionate approach, sage advice and guidance. She provides one on one, in-person and phone/Skype sessions, and offers workshops and speaking engagements on dream interpretation, Reiki certification, crystal healing, spirituality, living your purpose and manifesting your dreams.
Avalaura is a Licensed Graduate Social Worker who holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Howard University in Washington, DC. Additionally, she is a trained Reiki Master/Teacher, Certified Life Coach and Spiritual Counselor, Hypnotherapist, Holistic Aromatherapist and Yoga Instructor.
Born and raised in Connecticut, Avalaura is the eldest of three children, born to parents who are first generation college graduates. She has been married for 10 years to her husband, real estate entrepreneur, Anthony Beharry.
